STAGE 1: The Children Meet
Year 2 and Year 6 children get together to share books and find out about each other.

The scene is set for the project and the children begin to design houses for their characters in the square.

STAGE 2: The Houses are Built
Household junk becomes a home!

Prime plots are filled quickly as the square takes shape.

But who will live there?

STAGE 3: The Author
Miriam leads the workshop in schools to develop children's story writing.
STAGE 4: The Workshop
Miriam reads "The Snoops"

Using the illustrations she talks about the families
in the story.

The children are divided into groups to create their own families to live in the square.

Families are created
The Children talk about the character they want to be in their family.

The children draw their character.

They add informatiom about their character to their picture.

STAGE 5: The Writing Begins!
After the workshop the children develop their characters further and create a description of themselves.
STAGE 6: We meet the neighbours
Year 2 and Year 6 Families get together to discuss a possible event in the square.
STAGE 7: We start our stories
Pupils take their ideas home over half term to develop them further.

Then they meet with Year 6 to share and finalize their stories.

This helps the Year 2 pupils to extend their stories.

Story boards are made to record sequences of ideas for the stories.

Pupils act out their ideas to develop detail further.

STAGE 8: The finished stories
The stories are put into books for all to read.
